Steven D. Devick co-founded a highly profitable software company, Platinum Technology Inc., with longtime friend Andrew "Flip" Filipowski in 1987, then launched Platinum Entertainment in 1991. The company, which began as a gospel label, rapidly diversified into other musical fields by buying other record companies' catalogs of recordings. It also became part owner of the House of Blues in Chicago.
