One of the most popular West End stage musicals written by Ivor Novello, in which he also played the lead role. The show opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London. Following a suspension in September 1939 upon Britain's entry into the Second World War, it reopened at the Adelphi Theatre, London, on March 14, 1942, and ran there until July 1944, for a total of 969 performances. It was later revived - The Dancing Years [1968] - at the Saville Theatre from June 6, 1968 for a further 52 performances.
