- Musical comedy starring Angela Lansbury about a free spirit coping with the Great Depression. It is based on the novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis. Its first performance was at the Shubert Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as part of its pre-Broadway try-out run. Its official Broadway opening was on May 24, 1966 at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it remained until closing on January 3, 1970. Between the two venues, it ran a total of 1,508 performances. "Mame" was made into a motion picture in 1974 starring Lucille Ball.
