Hi. Joni Mitchell wrote "Both Sides Now" and "Woodstock." In addition, the number of times her songs have been covered are not at all correct. Both Sides Now has been covered well over 300 times, and there are many other covers that you have not mentioned. I hope this is not because she is a female artist. It seems as though you don't really acknowledge female artists on your website.

There are many sources of information for this, including a documentary, books...

here is the amazon.com website for the Joni Mitchell album that has Both Sides Now credits: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002KOJ/103-1786892-9125401?v=glance&n=5174

Here is a page on the Joni Mitchell Homepage site that lists all the artists that have covered her songs. You'll note that Both Sides Now has been covered over 300 times (you have stated that it has been covered only 12 times!): http://www.jonimitchell.com/CoveredBy.html

here is a Judy Collins website stating that Both Sides Now was written by Joni Mitchell: http://www.judycollins.com/biography.html

Welcome on our forum.

No, this is not because Joni is a female artist.

We added 12 covers, we didn't state that the song has been covered only 12 times. This website is a work-in-progress and will never be complete.

"here is a Judy Collins website stating that Both Sides Now was written by Joni Mitchel"

We know it and credited Roberta Joan Anderson (true name of Joni Mitchell) as writer of Both Sides Now:

I would think anyone entering the website would look at "guidelines" first, but maybe that's just me. Take a look to see what counts as a cover as well as what is a listable version here.

Since the author link is clickable, I would think someone would do that and discover that Joni Mitchell is indeed Roberta Joan Anderson. There's a lot of useful information on the website; at least I've found that to be true.

This is one accuracy-oriented site (where other sites are often just lists taken from elsewhere) so the folks here have no qualms about checking and correcting things. That accuracy takes time, however. Be constructive and confirm all the attributions and dates for "Both Sides Now" covers and submit that to the forum and see for yourself how much work that is. A few can be done and submitted at one time.
