Mathieu,

Your link didn't work ---- Server not found

But I knew what you wanted me to do, I tried messing around with the "Contribution type" and "Status" buttons.

And "no" it doesn't fit my need, but then again I might be the only one doing it that way. It made artist searching easier for ME. I'll just do less user submissions coz I'm not going to sit there and scroll down every song looking for an artist I'm familiar with.

Oops sorry for the wrong link. I don't think you understand what I meant. Try this - it searches on a particular artist:

https://secondhandsongs.com/participate?type=any&status=open&assignment=any&invo…

Notice the "more search criteria button" that adds some search fields.

I'm trying to accommodate everyone so please be a bit more constructive in the discussion. The reason I want feedback, is to further enhance the new system.

- first showing the buttons that I can't access to narrow my search for covers and errors on the iPhone; and

Try to refresh that page. Maybe by 'pulling down'? Anyway, you can also select the option by clicking on the text. You don't need to aim for the radio buttons.

- second showing two pages of unread messages in the forum but no messages. I think it may still be counting the messages that have moved to the participate section of site.

Fixed.

Thanks also for including the "need more info" option for submissions. Could you clarify what happens to those submissions? Do they disappear from the list of covers until the user provides the additional information required? I would support doing this by the way - but will the editor be alerted when the user replies and provides more information?

You can subscribe to updates with the "subscribe" button. It becomes an "unsubscribe" button when subscribed.

Mathieu

That makes sense. However I think where an editor has replied to a submission or error report, or requested more info, it would make more sense to subscribe the assigned editor automatically and give them the option of unsubscribing - rather than the other way around. So anything that is not a straight processed or rejected I'd advise auto-subscribe for the assigned editor. Otherwise there is a risk of too much getting lost unanswered and unresolved.

Awesome on both counts. Thanks!

Okie dokie.... Since SHS is on a change binge, here are two requests:

a) Bring back the auto private message when a response, process, etc. is made to a post/submission. I have boo coos of posts out there and I like both the confirmation that my work is being used and a chance to make corrections either way. Did I have the correct release date? Did the editor mistakenly index as "One" by U2 when it's actually "One" by Harry Nilsson. (These types of things do and have occurred.)

b) Add a bulk deletion function to our Private Message in/out boxes. Right now one has to delete each separately.

BTW, I noticed something. I have submitted a lot of tribute albums, so I add "Tribute to [Insert Link Here]". This makes it easy for me to find the submission later, but these are no longer appearing "Discussions" tab. Is this intentional?

Examples:

Dave Matthews

Madonna

To fulfill the reply request: I only encountered this now installed new feature right now, when following up all the SHS messages from the weekend. I'll have to (get) use(d to) it before I can comment.

Do you mean email notifications? You have turned them of (go to your profile, then 'manage subscriptions' - the option for forum topics also applies to contributions).

First, I haven't adjusted any settings and your response triggered a message for the first time since change. Second, I'm not referencing an outside email address, but rather the SHS "Unread replies to my posts".

Hi Mathieu,

I was surprised to find 8 unprocessed "own submissions" highlighted for my attention, only to find that most of these were, if I recall correctly after five or six years, DRAFT posts that I hadn't previously submitted.

(a) have drafts really been converted to generic submissions or am I wrong in believing they were drafts that I hadn't posted?

(b) are these visible to all or only me? By the nature of drafts, the potential posts were incomplete awaiting further research before submission. If they hadn't been submitted, drafts ought to remain private.

(c) is there a way for me to delete these drafts rather than publicly rejecting them or replying to them?

Thanks, Dave.

I checked the pre-migration data and there aren't any draft posts. If you give me list a list of submissions, I can delete them for you.

Those aren't private messages, just a list of topics. You can have a similar list of contributions though. You can bookmark the page if you like.

Okay, something really needs to be done about this. I just updated the submission below, but I don't see where it is tied, when looking at the artist's page (i.e. not listed under any tabs, etc.):

https://secondhandsongs.com/case/58092

Paul Nicholas

Indeed, generic submissions don't show up on artist pages anymore. However, you can find them by searching by artist name in the participate section:

https://secondhandsongs.com/participate?type=any&status=open&assignment=any&invo…

This way also works when the artist you're submitting for doesn't exist yet.

You don't have to delete them. I like to keep them around for later reference so I never thought of implementing a bulk delete.

Not helpful. I have lots of old posts; ~1K open matters, I shouldn't have to search for a needle in a haystack. I liked having a list of recent activity a click away. The process is simply too cumbersome, in my view. I have sorted the current system in all sorts of ways, and it just doesn't serve the same function.

Not that useful. In my view, all of this should be readily available from the Artist's page. This would go for works, performances, releases, etc. I'm coming from the experience of a long-term heavy user, and recently I've run into a fair number of instances where editors add songs when a submission already exists. The more places relevant posts are listed the better for everyone.

Please tell me what's the difference between the link I gave you and what you requested (except that you need more than one click).

It'll take some time to get used to it, but hopefully new users will see it with a clear mind and appreciate it.

I certanly have witnessed to much more radical changes. Smile
