As posted before, I am currently going through my music pool and making submissions from time to time. As part of that, I have a number of non-English covers for which I have not confirmed the language. As a side project, I will start to make submissions of these, looking for help in confirming the assumed language or determining the language when I have no real clue.

VV

Thanks. Remember we can't add new adaptations unless we have a confirmed source for the translator of the lyrics too.

If I had the translators, I would provide that info. I'm assuming that it will be easier for those who speak the language to find that information. Until then, at least the existence of the covers will be know to other users.

I am not an editor, but if there is a way that I can help identify the language and research the translator, I will be happe to help.

Thx. I submitted the ones I already have, but if you run across any, please post what you can determine.

Finished (yet) another phase of my music project, namely tracking down some foreign language (relative to English) covers. For many of those found, I was unable to identify the language with complete confidence, and a good number are adaptions not currently on site.

Looking for help in confirming the language and other details (e.g. translator, first release), I will be creating new submissions of some of these for review.

Sheesh... Not as much as a nibble thus far? Well, that should do to get thru the weekend. Smile

Alrighty... Dumped what I had thru "H".., but there doesn't appear to be much interest thus far. I'll stop new submissions for now.

Dear VV, I am afraid I just read this thread for the first time. And I am totally lost what it exactly is, what your objectives are/were? What do you expect from whom at SHS? I have addressed some of your error reports resp. entries, but never was aware this was all part of a "project"? Whose project? From which institution? Would you be kind enough to explain and elucidate? It would make it easier to be of help.........

Smile Nothing so "official". As part of my personal mp3 project, I collected a large number of non-English covers, some of which I can't with 100% confidence identify the language. My main purpose is to get the language identified, secondary to identify the translators and original release.

To that end, with a windfall to SHS, I have submitted a string of non-English covers with the hope that those who speak the respective languages can get them process-worthy.

For now, I have only submitted those with some level of language uncertainty from my perspective, many of which are adaptions not yet on site.

OK! Still somewhat lost how you expect SHS editors to proceed.....

Proceed like any other submission. While I know and understand that matters can linger for years untouched, I was just surprised that none of these new adaptions had drawn any attention thus far.

But how do I know, which "new" adaptations are important to you? Just give me a list and we will try to process these somewhat sooner than "years"........

Smile No worries Carl, tho I do appreciate your interest. Just handle matters that draw your attention as has always been done, posting any missing details that you can determine. If memory serves, this A-H batch were mostly Czech, Finnish and Swedish with other sundries. Even if an editor/contributor can't get the submission completely process-worthy, a confirmation of the language would get things moving and help get my notes cleaned-up a bit.

Well, finished my initial pass thru my notes A-Z, submitting all missing non-English covers for which I do not have 100% confidence in the language. Found a good number of additionals since I started, but that should keep the editors busy for some time.
