Christmas is rapidly approaching and you will not be surprised that #1 in the SHS list of Most covered songs you will find Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht! sung for the first time on Christmas Eve in 1818 by the authors of the song Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber in the Nikolaus-Kirche in Oberndorf in Austria. So this is almost exactly 200 years ago to date.

The work is sung all over the world and we have 25 adaptations in the SHS database in all the major languages except for Chines or Japanese......

So it is not surprising that we just added cover No. 2500 to the database, a Swedish Stilla natt sung by Stockholm's heartthrob Peter Jöback.

I just wonder how many covers we will have by Christmas Eve 2018...........

Should PG and I take that as a challenge?

Great find, David, and I wanted to listen to this performance, but I am afraid the video link does not work here in The Netherlands....... What a shame!

Try now Thom. The video that was being used was apparently removed by the person who posted it so I deleted that one and added a different one.
