Trying to find info about a song supposedly titled "Mexico" with credits of Lopez, Dresoy and Fagetter. Would likely have been recorded in the late 70s. It was covered by Rex Guido (with German lyrics by Jörg von Schenkendorff) on the 1980 album Hallo Jamaica. The song doesn't appear to be listed in any PRO and Discogs isn't much help either. Can anyone help with this one? It's the only cover on that album I haven't added yet.

Ok. "Dresdy" might explain why I couldn't find it. Unfortunately I have no idea who "Dresdy" and "Lopez" are and it's not listed in GEMA.

Hi Michael, can you double-check the label? Brazilian RCA doesn't look right... Wink

Fixed. I just assigned it to the regular RCA label for now. The reason it got put on RCA Victor [BR] is because Discogs has it on the RCA Victor label and somehow an external link for that label on Discogs got added to the Brazilian sublabel...

Would you be able to have a look? It looks like you’ve added the link to the Discogs page for the Brazilian sub-label to the main RCA Victor page. Most likely this happened when you added Convite Para Dançar. If we don’t fix, then the Brazilian sub-label will keep being added when editors use the Discogs form filler for releases in the main RCA Victor.

Wow. Just, wow. And people think external links and form fillers are good things? They have kicked the door wide open for mistakes like this, mistakes that proliferate because they aren't noticed.

Yes, this was my mistake. I apologize, and this is now fixed.

But does this mean when multiple of our labels have a link to the same discogs label, the form filler picks one essentially at random? I would have expected something like a popup menu.

I still think automatic cross linking has its merits. It's not like manual filling of these fields is absolutely error proof.

Will fix it in a bit. I was thinking the single and the album were released in the same year

Jon, you're a bit too harsh here. It's just a mistake by one of us. I find the controlled way of linking to discogs a big improvement, for both artists and labels.

The Brazilian page for RCA Victor was created by Moebius, but I'd like to kill it. Unlike Odeon [BR], they don't use cat nrs all their own, so I don't see the benefit.

It doesn't matter where the mistake is. The form fillers open the door to them coming in to our db. It's human nature.

Jojo does seem to have found the correct release. It's the home label for the group and it's from the previous year. I'm a bit embarrassed I didn't find it myself in post 2.

Added the earlier release now and added that song to it.

Funny that all references link to discogs and 45xxx Grin.

Nevertheleass, I surely agree that there is an obvious need to scrutinize and double-check such before adding them.
