Duplicates?

For instance a different performance under an alias seems a valid entry these days.

Frankly my statement is the result of general experience rather than from specific exchanges that I could now go back and find. My current position is to refrain from filing error reports for duplicates other than clear cases....

Another questionable pair in my view (though I am not familiar with the work):

Destiny

I imagine Blue Swede released a number of recordings under BS and Björn Skifs & Blåblus. Shall all of them be entered on site?

Michael

Could you look into this possible duplicate performance and advise?

Seems like Management is all over the place re: duplicates, so I didn't want to file an error report; however, per the comments, etc. these appear to be the same recording:

Sexual Healing

Sexual Healing - Edit (Live)

Erik CE should be able to explain about this pairing.

Those are actually different recordings, but not possible to define which was recorded first.

Omitted the additional one from the single and updated the comments to make this even clearer than before.

Thanks for making aware.

As far as I can tell the same recording was used for both. My guess is there was a rush to get an album out following the success of "Hooked on a Feeling", so they made a few changes to the song list from the first album (dropped three songs, added one and rearranged the tracks a bit) then issued it that way - far faster than recording an entirely new album and it gets the newly-found international audience familiar with them. The group's second album appears to have been released under both group names ("Björn Skifs & Blåblus" in Sweden and Blue Swede internationally).

Just two remarks:

a) Blue Swede was indeed the (later launched) international name for Blåblus.

= "Björn Skifs left Blåblus in 1975 to start a solo career. The band kept on working ... After a couple of years on hiatus, the band was restarted by original guitarist Micke Arkelew in 2011"

Now, there is the question if we should (not) make Skifs & Blåblus releases joint artists ones....

VV if you have more cases, it's better to file an error report.

As stated in the original post, since the editors/management are all over the place on this question, I no longer file related error reports. Until there is a clear rule that I can reasonably and consistently apply, I will continue as I am now....

I thought we had a clear rule - no duplicate performances for artists or artist aliases except in a small number of cases:

- Where first live performance or broadcast is different to recording

- Where first recording and first release are different

- Vocal vs. instrumental

Or do editors have a different understanding?

I should clarify, "do as I am now" means take no action. My original purpose for this thread was to highlight the inconsistency problem rather than to report any specific case. From my perspective, I see constant back n' forth over the "one" cover question, so I can't say whether there is now a current clear rule that I can reasonably apply or whether the editors have accepted the new rule (i.e. no error report improperly rejected).

Just not worth my effort as things appear to stand....
