Error vs No Error: No/Missing Links

If a release on site has no or is missing a major source link (e.g. Discogs, iTunes) in the e-notes, is that error report worthy? Since trying to remember which editors want them and which do not, preference doesn't work (I need a general rule) and an internal email would be too time consuming.

The release (which has no such links) that generated this post:

Greatest Hits

https://itunes.apple.com/lu/album/greatest-hits/1253947940

I assume nobody likes error reports. If I'd be really keen on info and wasn't lucky after googling intensively, I'd rather send a personal message than an error report.

PS: The release in question was mine and had resources all over the net (this side of the pond). I've added a couple of ext. links, I'm not sure what you can actually see as a non-editor.

My assumption as well, hence hesitancy and my general question here. As noted in my original post, a personal message is not an option. I take this all to mean your vote is no error report.

I now see two external links in the e-notes, but oddly not the iTunes link I provided. I assume that isn't a personal preference?

Maybe we should open up adding Discogs and Apple Music links to Certified Contributors?

Of course - and discussed previously towards the end of an earlier thread on a similar topic.

I would think....

Discogs

iTunes

Amazon

AMG

CDBaby

45Cat

Missing any regular sources?

Yes plus 45worlds, Rate Your Music, Spotify and Mills Records.

MusicBrainz can be helpful on occasion, too.

Management can allow CCs to add whatever links they wish, but this CC would likely a) only add Tier 1 links and b) only add when there is no existing quality Tier 1 link in the e-notes. My Tier 1 sources (i.e. those that I look for first when researching and submitting and (when found) result in my not looking for lower tier sources:

Discogs

iTunes

Amazon

CDBaby

AMG

45Cat (when applicable)

I wouldn't add Tier 2 sources: Spotify; Rate Your Music; GooglePlay

Yes definitely - in fact it’s one of the sources that works with our pro forma.

Ticket now reads:

Allow Certified Contributors to add external links to releases

Allowed: Discogs, Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, AMG, CDBaby, Musicbrainz. 45cat, 45worlds, RateYourMusic

Looks like allowing CCs to add external source links may be on the backburner for an indefinite length of time. Should I file error reports when there are no source links in the meantime?

Not at all.

It's the 3rd most popular ticket, with votes from Oldiesmann, microtherion, Bastien

That may be, but my ultimate question was: Should I file error reports when there are no source links in the meantime?
