I don't use Spotify.

You should be able to access from most web-browsers, just like Apple Music. If you click on the three dots to the right of any song, you can choose to copy the URL.

--I don't understand this. I don't see "three dots to the right of any song."

See attachment.

(...) but the interface for editors to add spotify links is so simple to use that I generally add links if they show up.

I'll pass on the compliment to Mathieu Smile

(...) Did noone else realize this impertinent insult against the management and everyone else who was either supporting this feature or is not against it? (...)

It is insulting indeed.

The editorial team certainly has people with passionate opinions, where sometimes I both disagree with the opinion and am puzzled by the passion Tongue

But I don't really see any attempt in this thread to insult anybody, let alone you specifically, so it seems that taking any of this as a personal slight is a needless escalation.

Nicely put Matthias.

Hopefully Jens will return again to SHS one day, perhaps under a different alias. We can't afford to lose any more editors or certified contributors.

I don't think this - a thread visible to all users - is an approriate place for spreading hatred. But, being the target of it, I'm unfortunately forced to reply:

Quite some editors, CCs and myself for many weeks in various threads expressed not to be Spotify subscribers/users (= having next til access) and also in detail pointed out Spotify's inadequacies in terms of qualifying for a (non-)reliable data source. After all that being very surprised by the decision in question caused a spontanous and (as probably understood by anybody with a sense of dark humor) ironic reaction.

Publically posting furious tirades of hate, full of personal offence and scorn, basically not because of the particular case but mainly in order to defame someone else (= me) who persists on the well-founded SHS guidelines etc. - he himself openly and insistingly refuses to accept - is surely of an entirely different 'quality' than my somewhat sarcasic comment.

Bastien,

I've never seen and haven't found a web page that looks like the attachment. I have discovered that if I find a Spotify link for a particular song I can apparently transfer it to the SHS submission form by copying and pasting the URL link. And I can (usually? often? sometimes?) get to a Spotify link by searching the name of the song + name of performer + the word "spotify."

Works well in my experience up to now.

Would it be a good idea to add in "My Profile" - like Videos added or Web covers - the possibility to see how many Spotify links an editor has added to the database?

So we can see how many of us are actively helping in cross-referencing our database and making more songs available to listen to (to qoute Bastien).................

That was my impression as well....

I will say that my traditional policy was to not include a Spotify link if I found two or more of my first level sources (e.g. Discogs, iTunes, and Amazon), only including when preferred sources weren't readily found. Now if Spotify pops up doing my search, I will include it, leaving it up to the processing editor to use as they see fit....

i thought so too , but also thought i had not read enough comments from those who do. but it was interesting to me, so many here who don't us spotify-- aside from resource use for SHS or other purposes, most or all of my f&fs DO use spotify and they are not intereted in shs or any other look at music- they jsut want to listen and use it-spoty -- to do so. hmmm??

I use Spotify, but it doesn't matter because the option to submit the Spotify url does not appear when adding a cover. Unhappy

Option appears after adding Performer… I encountered the same issue before I see that! Smile
