Submissions now feature a "Completeness" score, reflecting what percentage of the proposed fields in the Submission form have been completed. We hope to encourage contributors to be even more complete in their submissions, and we encourage our editors to process the most complete submissions first(*).

Some random examples:

  • 100% by endeavourmorse
  • 92% by Oliver One
  • 83% by rbrnb
  • 75% by lord.angela
  • 42% by Maria Hof

(*) The completeness score is one of components of the priority score, ranking submissions in the Open Submissions tab.

isn't there something like that already-- at the end f the submission there is a % total --sum for each detail included in the submission-- what's that/how is that different than this?

Read, but as JC said, my earlier observations still stand....

I did get curious and looked at the "100% by endeavourmorse " linked above. From what I can see, the core attributes of this model submission are:

a) A quality Discogs link provided twice;

b) A video provided twice; and

c) Likely most relevant for "completeness", the basic bio data for the new artist.

While certainly solid, this submission evidences the subjectivity of "complete". I personally would have preferred a back-up vid and more source links (e.g. iTunes) for the release over the bio info that will likely be expanded by an editor anyway. Should contributors be expected to fill in the same bio info for the same new artist for a string of submissions?

Also, if an artist is already on site but doesn't hyperlink for well known reasons, the current work around is likely to cause a 100% complete submission to downgrade to maybe 60%.

This feature remains a curiosity for me rather than a guide or goal....

Read. Same questions and objections as previously.

New ticket created #3137: When Completeness score is lower than 100%, display elements that were missing.

Now you have to motivate editors to vote it high up the priority list Wink

No. I understand the confusion, but that's a progress bar, showing you how far you are in the process.

List of missing data is now shown in tooltip.

Seems overkill to me.

Far from it. First, overkill is more like posting the same vid and source link in the body of the submission, but there's no harm.

Second, a classic submission from me would be an autogen as the primary vid and (if available) a non-autogen secondary vid. This is due to the autogen possibly being blocked in some areas (less an issue now than earlier) and often the editor prefers the secondary anyway.

Editor preferences also often affect a new artist pic. Early after the submission form was changed to add bio fields, I would find a pic and perhaps crop only to have the editor opt for a different image. I quickly decided to just add links to bio info in the submission and let the editors handle as the wish....
