No need for sarcasm Mark, I don't find it very respectful considering us trying to develop and improve the database day in day out.

So Bastien, I posted that response on January 8 and I stand by every word I said. You took 5 weeks to respond - yes 5 weeks. and you want to tell me I insulted you? really?

I work my ass off on this site and I've done a ton to help this site whether I offend you or not. Be thankful you have someone that will actually challenge things.

You are the same guy who fought my adding missing visuals.. So clearly you have let my stepping on your toes matter more than making SHS better. I had to circumvent you to even get that added when it only benefited your site.

Noone says you're doing a bad job, Mark. However, I think that private matters should be discussed in private. Not in the "Certified Contributor Level 2" thread.

Jan, which are the "private matters" you refer to? As far as I can see, issues Mark is bringing up are of general significance.

But Jan, this is pure poetry!

Incoherent, but still poetry............

I don't know how to "retract"an error report. So far as I know, In the situation I've described I'm required to "reject" it -- implying that it was wrong when in fact it was correct (that being the whole point of changing the video).

In fact you're right, I checked it and you can only reject it.

If it's really that important to you, ask an editor to assign the report to him/herself, and he/she will set it as "processed" for you.

My idea was that the more advanced CC level could/should be limited to CCs aspiring to become editors. This also as an additional motivation by being given more authority. In comparison to the quite extended possibilities offered to CC1s, the three extra ones for CC2s appear somewhat mere for that purpose, though.

No. CC levels will not be limited to people aspiring to become editors.

PS: For CC1s it a. o. reads "Can tag or untag any database object", but for Junior Editors "Can tag any database object and (only) delete tags added by themselves". This looks a bit reversed...

Corrected

Btw., in the CC1 section, it may look clearer if the "View attachments for all database objects..." paragraph was put above the "Add attachments to releases..." one Smile

There is no crusade at all against the great music provider Spotify, just lots of reasons why we should not treat Spotify as a prioritized data source (and so on).

Reckoning that allowing CC2s to delete not applying etc. Spotify links includes letting editors do so, too (which I've been heavily blamed for doing in the past), my vote for that is in.

Put it the way you want it Erik, but we will not tolerate deleting correct Spotify links nor discouraging other editors and users from adding Spotify links.

How do I delete a tag submitted by myself?

Mark,

We appreciate the work you put in.

We appreciate you challenging things.

I am not aware of me having fought the feature in question. On the contrary, I did an explicit push towards Mathieu to speed up its implementation.

And yes, I still think your comment was out of place.

That's all I have to say about this, I suggest we move on now.

Not only appreciating, but also rewarding Mark's dedicated over-all work and often rightly questioning certain circumstances plus his specific expertise and great comprehension of matters, the consequent conclusion of suggesting to 'move on, now' can only mean to assign him a 'regular' editor asap.

But that has been said by various editors elsewhere, anyway. So what are we waiting for?

I said something quite similar not long ago and also advocated promoting https://secondhandsongs.com/page/Bookmarks#composers in advance of and within the submission precedure Smile

Then let's go ahead with this: Ticket #3169 Add field for work code to the submission form

Nice one, thanks Smile

Is there also a(n additional) way to make submitters aware of where/how to look for work numbers?

Bastien, you know pretty well that I never deleted any correct Spotify links or urged others to do so. But, unfortunately, SHS encourages randomly adding Spotify links, which is why enabeling/allowing CC(2)s - and editors - to delete not fitting ones is mandatory.

Your decision. I think reserving the higher CC level for editor candidates would have been quite a teaser, though.

Didn't look up the changes of the CC descriptions, but glad to have helped.
