It may be the truth but it is imprecise. A link within iTunes to the exact performance being discussed is much better. Then (i) it is easier to return to that page within iTunes to check it and (ii) we can be sure we are all discussing the same performance.

I agree. Just "iTunes" is not that helpful for processing the entry, you better post the URL.

I type Hard Headed Woman into the ITunes store search field and it gives a list of artists who have a version in the store and you can then listen to a preview to confirm that it is the right song.

I find that somewhat problematic, as iTunes search is fairly terrible (no way to put it kindly), search results are often incomplete, and liable to change as more releases are added.

It amazes me how bad the iTunes search is. It should be one of things that makes iTunes better than other platforms, but it is the opposite.

I suspect it's just catering to the mainstream tastes of 95% of the users, rather than us few, us proud. At least the secret power search has not been broken yet. I hesitate to file any internal bug reports, as they might lead to somebody taking that search away as well.

Hardly ever using the iTunes search, but iTunes/Apple Music in most respects don't seem as bad as other main online distributors. Generally, though, that's a matter of the content and data being provided to them, so often they are not really to blame. But that indeed makes them all more or less unreliable in terms of exact data = basically not suitable for primary sources.

I agree that ITunes is dreadful (and not just the search function). It is simply one of several routes towards a cover which you did not know existed.

Certainly not reliable and verification is to be recommended.

Terrible indeed. Whenever I want to search iTunes/Apple Music I use Google instead.

I loathe iTunes. They use MP3 tags incorrectly. First time I tried using it years ago it began rewriting a couple thousand of my tags before I caught it and put a stop to it. I've refused to use anything with an "i" in front of it ever since. 😫

iTunes used to give hundreds of songs for many artists, then they cut the list to one hundred max.
