I see that copying the internal link and the new feature results in the same thing. Is this what we want?

It says so in Mathieu's announcement.

Actually it read not so clearly, as I believe I originally got the impression of different intended effects. There's also value in wanting to include a link to a user's page but not trigger a mention. Regardless, perhaps a re-visit is in order anyway.

As examples:

a) Hard mention sends email, red dots, and requires a response.

b) Soft mention just red dots.

c) Link mention only links to user's page.

d) Text mention does nothing.

If I contribute to any thread, I'm automatically being notified about future messages in that particular thread... If then somebody 'mentions' me in the same thread, I'll get two notifications for the same message.

If I unticked 'Mentions (in) a forum topic or case' in the email subscription section, I wouldn't know if anybody mentions me in a thread I so far didn't contribute to.

The other around: Is there anything I can do to avoid such multiple notications?

I understand the issue, but unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do at this stage.

Also, I wonder how big the issue is? Is it a small annoyance, or is it lowering your productivity? I'm aware I'm framing the issue with this question Smile Smile Smile

Only being notified twice per message is not a that big thing. However, with each additional mentioning it culminates....

As editors/CC having contributed to threads will be notified of any new comment, anyway, others in their answers could maybe simply refrain from (re)mentioning them?

In the same line of reasoning: Maybe the mention-feature should be deactivated for anything quoted? That would avoid mentions being "recycled" all the time.

Spontanously: Sounds like a good idea.

Being new here I don't have much to add except thanks to the Managers and long-time contributors for continuing to expand the functionality here. Anything that makes it easier for users to communicate and participate more efficiently!

Ticket created: Ticket #3343

Thanks!

According to Mathieu this wasn't the case anymore since a few months. So the ticket is closed.

Should it happen again, let me know.

Actually, I got this very message twice Smile

Same for https://secondhandsongs.com/message/205382 and https://secondhandsongs.com/message/205293 (to name just two of the recent ones)

Thankfully, the number has decreased remarkably in the last couple of weeks, though.

camembert electrique Do you mean a reply notification & a mention notification? I suppose you don't want a reply notification when you are mentioned already?

The original issue as I understood it, was that quoted mentions were also treated as new mentions.

Mathieu I also got this message twice. Once as being a participant in this discussion and once because you quoted me - doing the same, now, for you to see if you also get my answer twice. That would show what I mean Smile

Originally, I was notified each time someone answered to anybody else's comment including @+ my name without omitting the @. This thankfully doesn't seem happen, anymore.
