If I Had a Penny is a Boudleaux and Felice Bryant song according to SMDB and www.fono.fi, bit cannot be found in ISWC, BMI or GEMA.

In 1979 Swedish vocalist Cacka Israelsson performed a cover of the work called Hade jag en krona and it sounds like this:

In 1990 Finnish singer Pekka Himanka gave it a Finnish try: Jos mä markan saisin and that one goes as follows:

Obviously the same song, but are we wrong about the original and is not called If I Had a Penny

Has anyone heard this one before?

Thom, also on behalf of Scousedave , who was here first!

Reply just to confirm I took a shot but can't recognize, though there's an element that sounds familiar

SMDB and www.fono.fi are wrong. The exact title is "Penny Arcade"

Great work, jojo , Joop! You are a prince once again.......

Penny Arcade is now on site! And so is the performance by Cristy Lane.

I can see why David has it's doubts, because on the label "Låt udda vara jämnt" (please note its jämnt) is attributed to Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.

I haven't found a soundfile of Cacka Israelsson's version, so I have no opinion.

I can believe that SMDB took their information from the record company.

Question is - did the record company get it right?

This is why SHS is a compiler rather than a researched source:

Discogs, 45Cat, and SMDB all documenting from the same original source (e.g. the record company) is not confirmation by 3 independent sources. There is no substitute for audio confirmation, without which SHS is just another compiler. Some editors and contributors seem to consider sites like SMDB irrefutable gospel, notwithstanding what ears (audio), eyes (images), and other evidence suggests if not proves.

Recently I've had some telling exchanges:

a) How was I supposed to know it was instrumental? Response: Audio confirmation

b) SMDB says the performance is titled "xyz". Response: Look at the images of the release.

The laws of aerodynamics says bumblebees can't fly. Response: Then why do I see them buzzing around?
