Hello.

I have continued to help checking the entries from countris with very few performers, and I noticed the Database has two duplicated countries, whcih should be merged or deleted.

One is France that has one artist listed under a territory called France, Metropolitan

This artist, Gilles Servat, was born in a town in southern France, not in any territory called France, Metropolitan, which doesn't exist and to my knowledge has never existed.

All French territories outside the mainland have their own pages like Martinique or Guadeloupe.

I have reported this as an error still to be reviewed here: https://secondhandsongs.com/error-report/48235

The second case is Timor-Leste, which appears both with this name and with the English name of East Timor, both are the same country. One of the names should be chosen and the other deleted.

Additionally, the two artists listed in the East Timor entry are also errors, one of them is French and the other Finish.

I have also reported this in two still to be reviewed errors:

I don't know the reason, but both East Timor and France, Metropolitan appear with an asterisk next to their name, so that probably means something.

Hopefully someone can look into eliminating the duplicated countries and correcting the geographical errors of the artists involved.

Thanks.

I imagine the the country dropdown is a standard web tool, including the options. I've always assumed that "France, Metropolitan" was for greater French incorporated regions that weren't otherwise listed separately.

I have never seen France, Metropolitan in other pages so I don't think that one is standard.

If you check the countries dropdown you'll find French Guiana, French Polynesia, French Southern Territories, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia, Réunion, Sant Barthelemy, Saint Pierre and Miquelon and Saint Martin (French Part) listed.

There is no remaining French territory that France, Metropolitan could refer to.

Countries with asterisks are country that used to be listed in the ISO standaard, but aren't anymore. Last time I have updated the list ( see https://secondhandsongs.com/topic/57024 ), it was about Serbia & Montenegro, so I assumed that entries that disappear are countries that don't exist anymore. However, in this case it's more a administrative change in the ISO list itself.

I have deleted both and updated the artists (and users) as Pencho15 suggested.
