Good point, that probably could be the standard, that the retiree hands over her/his notes, although that always should be her/his choice.

I'm not sure actually. If the personal note is relevant to the SHS community... why not have written it in the editor notes in the first place?

Anyway, super happy about all the positive reactions 🤗

This implementation reminded me that we have another ticket pending, which has some overlap with the TODO list: Ticket #3230 aka "Playlist : List of performances maintained by individual users." (ticket created by Oldiesmann )

Just think about it: If you can make subdivisions into your TODO list, then you almost got your own playlists, don't you?

Read… and already a lot used! Smile

Héhé... always the first to use and test new features Oliver One ... you should become the official tester 😉

But you wouldn't be able to share the playlists.

I'm glad this is accessible even at the new member level. Very handy feature - it's letting me close a whole bunch of tabs which I intend to get back to someday maybe. Thanks for the freed-up RAM. Grin

Bastien, since you brought "privacy and ownership" up, I can't find any statements or communication anywhere about what SHS collects or intends to do with any information that we add on here.

For instance, you have everyone's email address, so what is stopping you from selling that list to Apple or Spotify?

I looked in the "About" section and don't see any policies anywhere, unless it is listed somewhere else. I thought under EU Privacy regulations you are to inform us what you are collecting and then we have a choice to decide what happens with that data.

I can't find any clear definitions of ownership and privacy. Maybe that is something that needs to be written up in the "About Us" section.

The point of playlists is to utilize SHS data to create lists of related songs/covers (similar to how we use tags for "parody" and "answer songs" but without limiting it to tags). You can use Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music or whatever music service you prefer to create personal playlists

I'm still waiting for an example of an expected "personal note" that shouldn't be in the Editors Notes. The original example isn.t one in my view:

Consider the original example, "probably features a Katy Perry cover". If a processing editor is unwilling or unable to add a cover in the immediate near future, why make this hidden to others?

"Tried a new pizza place today" or "processed on my birthday" don't seem to justify a new feature. On the other hand, "Public Notes" for things like possible translators or leads for additional covers and adaptions would be something worthwhile.

I agree. Actually, I also can't think of much that isn't worth sharing.

Maybe this: I have some personal research like "work ID numbers" for future projects that are now in my personal documents. These I could add to this new feature, but then I have to be sure, they come up after a search.

I believe it is mostly for member's notes, since they don't have anything like Editor's notes to use.

As stated a couple of items above, my main concern is seeing a policy showing what is private and ownership. Are our email addresses being sold?

So far I've made no use of the feature and didn't really think about doing so, likely because I add related matters to the respective editor notes and my to do lists mainly aren't that case specific. Nice gadget, though.

And: Interesting discussion... Looking forward to see the outcome...

I can see a setup where users can choose which sublists are visible and which aren't.

What I'm trying to do here is see if by expanding this feature we can also use it for other features we wanted to develop. It's not necessarily the best approach, but it's worth asking ourselves the question.

Good observation Wayne, we must indeed publish a more complete privacy policy. As we speak it's work in progress, as we have invested in the services of a legal counselor to get this entirely right. It should be published in the weeks to come, we'll keep you posted, that goes without saying.

It's more than that. The playlists you create here can be cross-platform, and even indepedent from platform availability.

I defintely see the point and technically I expect this to be fairly easy. Shall I create a ticket Mathieu ?

Today I started using this new feature.

Walking through discogs I found a version of Asturias and left the essential data in my personal list.

Why? Because right now my head was on something else...

Nice feature.

Slim D,

I'm a historian at Fresno State with a keen interest in the Beverly Hill Billies and the Happy Chappies. I've been through the Ken Griffis collection, but it seems like you have information beyond that. Could you email me at dcady@csufresno.edu and perhaps tell me a bit about your research?

Example of what I may have used a Public Notes feature, as Personal Notes does no good:

Noting that the autiogen for Hasta mañana suggests a missing translator credit:

Not as straightforward as you may think, as it would only search in the users' notes, but go ahead and create a ticket.
