I'm wondering if there is any way to find out who submitted a cover and where they got their info. My father was a member of a band in the 50's & 60's and apparently their record is out there somewhere. Unfortunately my dad passed away in '85 and with him went any and all info.

At the bottom of the page you can see which editor added a particular song.

I understand that but I was wondering how/where this person received their information and who they might be... possibly they have a connection to a band. I'm doing a little research.

It would help if we knew what song or band you were talking about.

Sorry for being so cryptic! I'm looking for information about the release of Sonny Dae & the Knight's '(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock' (Arcade). I've found some indications that it was released March of 1954. Also I'm trying to track down existing family of the other two band members. Can you help?

I have seen that data-base thank you. I was hoping for more detailed info. I did email the folks who manage the data base. Possibly they'll be able to provide something more. I was also able to find a collectable LP in England that I've ordered and there is a clip of the song on a rhythm & blues site. Very eery to hear your father's voice online. He passed in 1985 and Sonny passed in '87. This was the first time I'd ever heard the recording.

I appreciate your efforts! We'll keep digging.

Thank you. Yes, I did see the Emory Law site - it was actually the site that triggered this search. I didn't see the second site you listed, however, and I'll have to check it out. In the meantime, I've spoken with two british record companies and I was able to locate one of the surviving band members and the widow of the band's leader. After 50 years, this has been extremely interesting to say the least!
