Definition: The physical or digital carrier of a performance.

Every release should contain at least 1 performance of which it is the first release (R)

Releases must have been released seperately

Releases must be officially and publicly released

• Accepted
  • Releases on Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp
  • Releases given away with a pack of cereals or a magazine, releases sold to a fan club, ...
  • Jukebox singles

    Example: One for My Baby by Della Reese with Sid Bass Orch.

  • Releases on V-Disc unless the performances it features existed on other regular releases at the time.

    Example: I Never Mentioned Your Name by Tommy Tucker [US] on V Disc cat n° 69.

• Not accepted

  • Bootlegs, promo copies sent to DJs and radios, demo's, radio transcriptions...

  • Releases on Soundcloud

  • Performances from not accepted releases can be added as web covers.

Playlists, as you can find on Amazon and Spotify, are not considered releases.

• How to differentiate Amazon playlists and releases.
  • Amazon playlists feature /gp/ in the URL and have "Sample this playlist" as header above the tracks. Example: All Is Bright
  • Amazon releases feature /dp/ in the URL and have "Sample this album" (regardless of whether it has many or just 1 track) as header above the tracks. Also, there is a "Buy MP3 album" on the right hand side. Example: Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
