Never recycle database entities. When an entry has become redundant, delete and create a new. Never edit into a new entry.

If the owner of the entry is retired, you can edit the entry providing you explain your sources in the editor notes or via the external links

If the owner of the entry is still active

And the edit is minor + you are very sure: You can edit the entry

In all other cases file a error report instead.

Never undo an edit done by another editor. File an error report instead.

Mismatch warnings : The editor who added the external link has the responsability to take care of the mismatch warning.
