All performances in the database must be officially released, except "Firsts"
- By "Firsts" we mean first recordings, first broadcasts or first in live show
- "Officially released" implies that in the SHS database these performances are linked to a release
- Exception: Performances from broadcasts and live shows, of which the work was specifically written for the broadcast/live show in question, are accepted even when they are not first performances or first recordings
- Add non-released "firsts" when they are relevant: for example when the performer is different from the first recording or the first released.
- Consequence: A cover featured in a movie, if not released separately, is not allowed.
- Non-released first recordings are limited to recordings meant to be listened to by a public audience
- Included: Recordings for V-Discs
- Excluded: Demo recordings
1 PERFORMANCE
Only 1 performance of a particular work per artist is allowed.
- Exceptions
- Every performance should have at least 1 way of being made public:
- Via a Live show
- Via a Broadcast
- Via a Release
MEDLEY
Creation of a medley
- Create a performance based on one of the works in the medley
- Go to "Edit parts" and add the other work(s)
REMIXES
Remixes are out of scope for this database.
OUT OF SCOPE
Consider adding cover versions that are out scope as Web Covers
Example: Oyeme Mama by Tin-Tan features in the movie "El vividor" (1956). It's not a "first", nor was it written for "El vividor", which makes it out of scope as a performance. However, as this version was deemed relevant, it was instead created as Web Cover.
