Impressions by John Coltrane

Recorded live at the 'Village Vanguard' jazz club in Greenwich Village, New York City. This was the first released recording of "Impressions" by Coltrane. Two earlier recordings from November 1 and 3, 1961, were released in 1979 on "The Mastery of John Coltrane, Vol. 4 - Trane's Moods", Impulse!, catalog IZ 9361-2. The earliest recording of "Impressions" is from Coltrane's appearance on July 1, 1961 at the Newport Jazz Festival; however, this version has never been officially released.
