- A six-second drum break in the middle of the song, performed by the band's drummer Gregory R. Coleman, was picked up by New York's hip-hop scene in the late 1980s. Slowed from its original 135bpm (beats per minute), the looped break - later known as 'The Amen Break' - offered the perfect backdrop for laid-back rap songs. According to the WhoSampled website it would become the most used sample in history, featuring in more than 6000 performances.
