- Probably performed first by Emma Carus when she was headliner of the Big Easter Vaudeville Carnival at Chicago's American Music Hall. Other vaudevillians included the song in their acts. Among them were Neil McKinley, Eddie Miller, Adele Oswaldand Helen Vincent. The song became known as "Alexander's Ragtime Band".
