- Producer H.B. Barnum had 'The Vibrations' record 'Peanut Butter' as a demo; he then sold or leased the demo (along with another demo, "Talkin' Trash", issued as the single's B-side) to Arvee Records. Of course, Barnum didn't bother to tell the band any of this. Barnum knew that 'The Vibrations' were under contract to Chess, so Arvee couldn't use the actual band name; instead, they were dubbed "The Marathons."
