What a find, Joop! And quite possibly the one we are looking for. I will consult with other editors and hope they might be able to listen to the various versions to be sure.

Fantastisch, je bent een ster.............

Database -> Requests -> Scandinavian covers of a Charles Tobias song. "Every Saturday a Party"?

I recently stumbled on two covers of a Charles Tobias work and I have no idea what the original could be. Both titles translate into "Every Saturday a Party".

The Danish version is called Hver lørdag en fest and was recorded by Eugen Tajmer in 1967 in a translation by Mogens Dam

And there is a Norwegian version called Hver lördag en fest and also sung in 1967 on a single Hver lördag en fest by Kirsti, Oddvar og Arne (Arne Bendiksen, Kirsti Sparboe, Oddvar Sanne).

Sometimes also the name Al Lewis is mentioned.

I am afraid I have no YouTube performances of the song and basically all I have is a title.........

Anyone any idea?

And I corrected the wrong release attribution, of course........

Database -> Requests -> Re: La gatta

Thanks once more, Joop, and I have added the following comment to La gatta: At the time for unknown reasons at the Società italiana degli autori ed editori (SIAE) authorship of this work was credited to Carlo Donida (Bacal) and Mogol, however this work was entirely the work of Paoli. On many releases the Bacal/Mogol credits are still presented.

I do hope this will make it easier for future editors..........

Bedankt,

Thom

Database -> Requests -> La gatta

We now have two works on site called La gatta (The Cat).

One is La gatta first sung in 1960 by Gino Paoli who supposedly is also the author of the work as is stated on the single release and on one cover. However on some compilations of Gino Paoli's songs the work is presented as La gatta as written by Carlo Donida (Bacal) and Mogol.

I found three covers of the latter La gatta and they were all three credited to Bacal & Mogol.

When you listen to the performances I think it is clear we are talking about one work, but there is confusion.............

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Great work, Joop, and Take My Love with You, Too it is. I found a performance by country singer Carl Smith as the probable original and the Swedish cover is now also on site.

Thanks, Joop and thanks also to Michael for all the input. Good teamwork........

Thom

Sorry, Michael, you cannot listen to Joop's video, but I will start looking for other videos....

Database -> Requests -> Floyd Tillman cover in Swedish in 1963

Cacka Israelsson (1929-2013) recorded many Swedish covers of American hits.

One of them is Ditt hjärta, var är det? (Your heart, where is it?), a cover of a work by country music guitarist, singer/songwriter Floyd Tillman (1914-2003).

It can be found on the 1963 EP Minnet av Svarten.

I could not find a YouTube video, but I did find a MP3 file, where one can hear it.

Anyone any idea which original I should look for?

Thom

Database -> Requests -> Jack Wolf & "Bugs" Bower cover in Swedish

In 1964 Dutch-Swedish singer Suzie released on the EP Suzie Suzie Suzie a Swedish cover of a Jack Wolf / Bugs Bower work.

The Swedish song title is "Det känns så svårt" (It feels so hard) and goes as follows:

Anyone who recognizes the original?
