French and Italian Versions

Just type the title of the song you're looking for in the song search and you'll get a list of covers.
If the title was translated into french or italian you'll see them right away.
If the title wasn't translated you'll have to look at the name of the covering artist; it might look foreign.
I don't think there are many of them out there. It's mostly the other way around; French or Italian songs covered in English.

Hi Filip,
I don't agree with the second part of your remark. All through the 60's, 70's and 80's (especially) French and Italian artists have covered English songs.
Johnny Hallyday and Claud François have a repertoire that exists at least for 50% of cover versions of english songs (and they have a very extended back catalogue)

100% agree with Canary.
Here in Italy it was a sort of a "tradition" to "translate" English songs. Some of them were so successful in Italian that nobody knew they were covers.
We only have 178 covers in here

for the sole reason that sometimes is almost impossible to determine who wrote the Italian lyrics.

For French covers of English songs, click the link below:

There should be more versions, but not all songs have their language set yet.

i don´t know if this is new for you:
you can´t really call it a cover but perhaps it´s even better.
david bowie sang his song "space oddity" with italien lyrics. it´s called "Ragazzo Solo, Ragazza Sola" and appeared on a compilation called "rare". or you are lucky and get the original 7"...
he also did a 12" of "heroes" with a french and a german version of this song.
i hope i was able to help you!

I'm looking for original versions of songs made famous in English, but originally done in Italian.
Where can I find info?
We have some of them:

The links for your advanced search result don't work anymore? Is there a way to single out all french covers on this site?

We abandoned the advanced search after the work/performance upgrade in 2009. Instead we introduced a detailed search now at http://www.secondhandsongs.com/search/work
You can search for songs in a certain language, but no longer for covers specifically. It might be worth considering implementing this functionality again though...

Meanwhile we introduced an adaptation search which lets you find language links between songs.
