According to the Originals website, the original is by Cornell Muldrow (1959)but I can't seem to find confirmation on this.

Can anyone help me out?

The original version entitled Can't Sit Down was by The Bim Bam Boos released in 1959 on the Dasher label D 500.

Members of the group included Phil Upchurch on guitar , and the author of the tune Cornell Muldrow on organ.

The later recording You Can't Sit Down by Phil Upchurch and his Combo(Upchurch, Muldrow, David Brooks, Mac Johnson and Joe Haddick)was recorded in New Orleans in 1960 and released in 1961 by Boyd Records (Boyd 3398) of Oklahoma and distributed by United Artists Records.

I have a picture of the Dashers single but the file size is too big for the SHS system so cannot send it.

Just out of interest Upchurch played guitar and overdubbed bass on the later release.

Hi Stephan,

Should this be added as a cover of the "The Bim Bam Boos" version or of the "Phil Upchurch Combo" one?! Have a look here: You Can't Sit Down

Thanks!

The Bill Haley y Sus Cometas' instrumental cover version was adapted from The Dovells' cover version.
