La version de C. François avec Frédérique Barkoff est calquée sur une autre version interprétée par Tina (Jones) & Daddy (George Jones) en 03/1974 (sur US CBS/EPIC 5-11099, US Country #25) environ 7 mois auparavant. See att.

En 2007, sur une chaîne française, Gérard Louvin a raconté lors d'une "spéciale" qu'il avait apporté le disque US à Clo-Clo mais que ce dernier l'avait refusée. Puis qlq années plus tard en 1977, il l'a enregistrée en anglais (Tears on the telephone/lyrics by Barnes/see att.) pcq il voulait conquérir le marché anglo-saxon: Tears on the telephone (avec Kathy Barnet/Bradley's Records BRAD 7528 A, 1975): (charted at #35 in UK).
