Second Hand Songs is always looking for new contributors. Are you interested in working directly on the database? Read this page and send us an email (info at secondhandsongs dot com) if you're interested in joining us, or if you want more information on what's involved.
What we expect from our contributors
- The basic idea is: Quality above quantity
- As we're trying to build the most accurate cover song database, we expect people to be as precise as possible when adding covers to the database, to include complete background information, and to cite sources used.
We also expect our contributors to regularly check the board Report Errors and Inaccurate Information on the forum, to see whether visitors or other contributors reported mistakes about their entries.
What we DO NOT expect from our contributors
- To add a certain number of covers on a daily or weekly basis. Basically, if you add 1 cover a month, or 100 a day, it's up to you.
- To process the covers from the "Add Songs" forum board. We welcome this, but it's entirely up to you.
- To restrict to particular genres or artists. You add whatever covers you feel like.
Is it complicated?
- No, it's very easy, you don't need any particular informatics skills.
- To make it even easier, we first give you access to a "test site" where you can experiment as much as you like before working on the real database. Other members will be there to guide you through the learning process, and to help you out with any question you might have.
