500 Covers

Summertime becomes the first song in the SHS database to have 500 associated covers.

Thanks for letting us know; it's definitely a great milestone!

We should try to create some buzz around this. Of course we'll pay attention to it in our News section and on our Facebook page, but maybe we could do something extra....

Maybe a little contest with a prize to add one or more of the many 'Summertime' covers still missing from SHS?! Or have members and editors vote for the "best" version in the current database?!

Any ideas; please participate and let us know!

Either sounds good to me, but I particularly like the idea of suggesting covers of the song not yet added. I know there are thousands of recordings of the song, although some are YouTube only releases or otherwise never released. I am also sure that there are non-English versions of the song. Unfortunately, the only language I speak is English so I generally avoid entering entering non-English songs or versions out of concern that I will inaccurately enter information relating to the same.

In preparation of the 500 cover songs added milestone I've started adding YouTube videos to the 'Summertime' page. As you can imagine it's a hell of a job

Please help and add some videos yourself! That way users visiting the page as a result of the buzz we're going to create will have an even better experience.
