It's incorrect that the Motown version released earlier did not have Strange Fruit. On the original release date in the U.S., there were three different versions issued - basic version, deluxe version, and deluxe version with additional bonus tracks exclusive to the Target retail store.
Per the link above, 'Strange Fruit' was included on both deluxe versions, released by Motown on June 25th.
