Fountain of Love

Hi there,

years ago on the "WDR Oldie Show", I recorded the version of "Fountain of Love" I uploaded here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6lmrnjiqjg119te/AACwK3xKlGdVVEBHsRhbr8u1a?dl=0

Meanwhile the emcee Roger Handt has retired, so I see no other way to find out who sang it by posting this.

Does anybody recognize the voice?

I suppose this might be the English cover version of the Presley song, probably issued within weeks after the original.

So long!

Hi Holger, here's the answer:

Fountain Of Love by the Royal Showband.

Thank you, Jojo!

I just happened to notice your answer, fortunately only a couple of days after you sent it.

And strangely, shortly after having successfully consulted a great Elvis fan at the Saarländischer Rundfunk.

Brendan Bowyer is really a discovery - what a voice!

Regards,

Holger

Over here in Antwerp, Belgium, The Royal Showband Waterford is synonymous with their 1964 killer version of The Hucklebuck. This is in a big part due to a later compilation album from the early 70s, which I think is french: "Various ‎– Rock'n Roll Club Vol. 5". Just now, I found it on a yet older 1966 german compilation release.

I always wondered if that record is well known in the UK? Over here, it's quite a phenomenon, in the same league as the Lambada, the Macarena, the La bamba, and so on...
