Submission Form (a Suggestion)

While it isn't normally an issue, sometimes several popular works share the same song title. For instance:

Crazy by Seal

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley

Crazy by Patsy Cline

While someone reviewing a submission can click/back-click on the covered work to take a look-see, it may be helpful for the writing credits to be pulled into the form to better visually confirm that the right work was attached for the cover, etc.

Recently I got Lemon Tree and Lemon Tree switched around, resulting in a duplicate submission.

No need to switch back and forth, credits are displayed in the submission form.

They do not appear in the finished product. I was thinking about the form and the end result during the original post, but mostly thinking about the later. I review submissions after hitting send to look for errors, and a third party can't tell at a glance which "Crazy" is being covered. I considered pulling in the first release, but that isn't always the definitive performance and may not be helpful.

Was still thinking about the concept of "definitive performance". As Eris offered an apple "for the fairest", add a definitive performance flag and watch the editors fight over the matter. Might be worth the trouble just for entertainment purposes.... Smile

Relevant idea, and we should be able to manage that via the ratings. However, songs hardly have ratings today, one of the reasons being that there is no "best version" displayed so no incentive to rate. Chicken. Egg. You know.

I wasn't thinking about "best" (i.e. highest rated) but rather "definitive" (i.e. the most well-known, the version that made the song famous). Some examples where the cover is arguably the definitive performance rather than the original:

Tainted Love

You Can Leave Your Hat On

Black and White
