Recipient For Spanish, Greek & Hebrew Leads

Looking for an additional editor or active SHS contributor who is interested in getting leads to likely Spanish adaptions that I cannot research to my submission standards, as I would like to spread these leads out more. For example, I was unable to do much with the following release found while looking for additional covers/adaptions of Heartbreaker ....

There's enough info on Discogs to process some of those. That would be a second adaptation of "I Know A Place" where only the original author is credited (the other being Petula Clark's German cover from the 1960s)

My requirements for submitting non-English performances are relatively high, one of which is that I have heard a quality recording of the song in its entirety.

I'm also hurting for an editor or active contributor who is interested in leads to likely Greek adaptions. I simply can't work with Greek. For instance:

That's where Google Translate comes in handy. Paste the name/song title in the box and it will show you the Romanized version below the input box.

For your example:

Song title - "Mi.Mi"

Artist name - Kaíti Garmpí

Album title - "Próva"

Greek lyrics by - Pános Tsapáras

That still leaves you sorting out who's who and such, but it at least makes it a little easier to work with.

I have the same high submission standards for Greek as I do other non-English performances. Greek is just too hard for me to search on YT and to research even if I get a usable hit....

Greek alphabet is fairly easy to read actually.

You two seem to forget that I am not an editor, whose primary SHS related goal is to find, research and add covers of interest. My primary goal is to build a large pool of cover songs to edit down to use as bumper music during a internet radio/podcast. My SHS contributions are purely a by product of those efforts, a way of giving back to a source that I have used for years.

Upon finding a lead, if I don't find usable audio my research stops there. To salvage leads to rarer finds, I look for ways to forward to other SHS contributors in case they want to take on the research themselves. Otherwise, there's a chance the lead is lost forever....

I'm in a similar situation (though at a much lower level of productivity).

However, from my own experience, and looking at other editors' output, I doubt that lead generation is really the bottleneck in anyone's contributions. Even in my modest area of research, I have more leads than I could possibly hope to add in a lifetime.

That said, my personal focus of interest is on vocal versions of Jazz standards, so any new works, as opposed to performances, in this area are always of interest to me. So if you come across a Klingon recording of In a Sentimental Mood or a Swahili version of Brilliant Corners do not hesitate to ping me

Thought I had something for you the other week or so, but I was ultimately able to handle myself....

To clarify, I don't send all leads, just those that look rare. For instance works with few covers and new adaptions. On some occasions I will forward a lead to a tribute album when I can't do anything with it....

I can't work with Greek!

Was chasing a lead for Fields of Gold / Terre d'oru …. The credits suggest some Greek thrown in the mix, but I can't detect them among the English and (assuming) French. Could be the same recording, by why released here?

This led me to scan some of the other releases for Pyx-Lax, but nothing jumped out to me until:

I sampled the Gordon Gano composition, but I didn't recognize it. I have the likely (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction in my research queue, but researching this will be relatively difficult.

Spanish: i can try to help with these-- though i am late to this conversation, as i see it is from almost a year ago. two questions-- for e.g. what is needed with the "heartbreaker" entry from discogs?-- it even has a "translator" /lyric writer(imo ready for submission) which is sometimes not going to be found-- especially for the early ones-- 50-60s. it just was never known/published--

Be that as it may, for many reasons, at times it is extremely difficult (i am fluent in Spanish) to track down release data-- recordings are not that hard-- youtube has some gong back to 1900s.

anything in particular that you are looking for/interested in??

As many already know and has been noted earlier in this thread. I do not submit unless I have heard the entire performance. For a non-English lead, if I can't find a quality autogen, I either immediately drop the matter (the vast majority of the time) or send the lead to someone/then drop the matter.

FYI, your post was indeed fortuitous. While that original lead for a Spanish "Heartbreaker" was a dead-end for me then, I can now find an autogen and the release is now under my review.
