Trying to sort out the songwriting credits on this.

German rock band The Rattles did a song called "The Witch". Henner Hoier covered it in German.

However, I can't figure out who wrote the German lyrics. The label for Henner Hoier's version credits Herbert Hildebrandt-Winhauer (a member of The Rattles) and "Binder", but GEMA only lists Hildebrandt-Winhauer as the author and composer for all versions of that particular work.

Anyone know who that might be? The original isn't on SHS yet but I will add it if I can figure out who wrote the German lyrics.

At GEMA I found one entry for Hildebrandt-Winhauer as lyricist, another one naming a Fred Stone (DE) and a third one with a certain Hans Georg Moslener. Since this didn't really help, I went to the website of the music publisher Sikorski where I found an entry for The Witch also only naming Hildebrandt-Winhauer. I thought maybe it could be helpful nonetheless because they offer a button for further information on the right and if you want to you could write an email.

They say in their FAQ:

I need information on a work/composer (e.g. biography, catalogue of works). How can I obtain this?

Answer: If you require information concerning our works /composers, we shall be glad to assist you. Just send an email “re: press information” to our colleagues in the press department. Please indicate the composer, the title of the work and your contact data.

We shall process your request as quickly as possible and then contact you.

While sniffing around on this website, I found a man there called Martin Binder, who does translations. I haven't been able yet to verify he also did the translation for the witch, but I was able to find that Martin Binder also uses the name Jack Martin.

Not really much, but maybe it helps to ask at Sikorski or search for the alias. Smile

Ooooh... Happy

I thought I'd follow up the Moslener guy a bit and than I found.... the information you were asking for. 🙃 At least I hope so.

Henner Hoier sings the first verse: "Siehst du mich nicht rennen...", meaning "Can't you see me running". The title on the EP is The Witch but the registration title for the song is Siehst du mich nicht rennen and the alternative titles are Can't you see and The Witch. ISWC gives Moslener AND Martin Binder. It says TA, which I guess means translator?

In any case, I hope I didn't make a mistake despite the time and raise false hopes now. You should double check, because it's late, I'm already a little sleepy and should scurry straight to bed...

Sikorski gives the dates of birth and death of both: 21.09.1938 - 16.07.2019 for Moslener and 16.07.1921 - 19.01.1992 for Martin / Binder
