Went looking for possible lyrics for "Adouma" released by Santana on Shaman …, as I can't tell if the performance has non-English lyrics or just vocal effects. Online lyric sites suggest an instrumental with effects; however, the songwriting credits (Angélique Kidjo; Jean Hébrail) made me also consider the possibility of a cover:

First, can anyone confirm whether lyrics or effects?


Second, since I doubt I will get around to researching this in depth, much less submitting a new original anytime soon, feel free to run with this....

The original finally came thru my listening queue, and it's definitely the same song. The writing credits in my notes from the Santana performance are Angélique Kidjo; Jean Hébrail, but I don't see any for the original on Discogs.


I still can't say if there are actual lyrics. The Discogs entries with credits only list "Backing Vocals", which suggests vocal effects to me:
