Stumbled across an artist who recorded Chinese-language versions of several English songs in the 70s, but I have no idea where to go to dig up writing credits for these adaptations. I did find the MCSC site but am not finding any links to a repertoire database there. Does anyone have any resources for finding this?

So far I've found covers of "Puppy Love", "She's A Lady", "Dance Little Lady Dance", "Mambo Italiano", "Kung Fu Fighting" and "Beautiful Sunday" by this person.

Well, her EP "She's a Lady" was released in Malaysia, you might look here: MACP

Edit: come to think of it, I have a copy of her performance, as well. I hope you can find the lyricist, Ervinna's version has the same lyrics. I have a submission for Victor Lim's performance, too.

That might be helpful. I found two different adaptations of "Kung Fu Fighting" in there with the same name as the one she did ("功夫" aka "Gong Fu"), but I have no idea whether either one of those is the same as the one she did since I don't speak Chinese.

I just find Youtube videos, listen and compare.

That bit I wrote earlier about Victor Lim and Ervinna: those are performances of "She's a Lady", not "Kung Fu Fighting". I hope I didn't send you on a wild goose chase.

Oh good. BTW, do you know a good way to find an IPI number for an artist? I'm stuck, if I can't find them at ISWC (or certain other PROs).

I don't know of any other way to find it unfortunately.

Also, I didn't find any results for that version of "She's A Lady" at the Malaysian site or the Hong Kong one.

Yes, these Chinese adaptations are hard to research. You are lucky if you find decent artwork, much less a lyricist. I have found back covers and converted them to a PDF. My PDF reader can do OCR. I was able to copy and paste text from the cover, which is how I found a lyricist for one of my submissions.

You can sometimes find album sleeves and sides in PDFs at this site: https://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/music/ Music SG

I discovered you can find artist IPI numbers at MusicBrainz.

MusicBrainz is a great site. I need to remember to use it more.
