Does anyone know the Italian original on which this Nana Mouskouri and Drifters song is based? The Italian original was written by Pallavicini, F. Reitano and M. Reitano and the English adaptation by Roger Cook and Roger Greenaway.

Given that it was based on an Italian song, I looked up "Four and Twenty Hours" in GEMA then did a search for that work code...

Result "Piu' importante dell' amore", which was recorded by Anna Identici in 1968.

Found and added several additional covers of the song. It also appears British group The Fortunes may have been the first to record it, as their version appeared on an album they released in Germany in 1971, a year before Nana Mouskouri's version.
