I have had difficulty accessing AllMusic for the past few weeks. Occasionally I can access it briefly.

I'm just curious if anyone else is as well. This is what I get:

This page isn’t workingwww.allmusic.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 503

Thx Mark.

It's a bit hit-and-miss, but usually the page loads after a refresh or two.

Once you get onto the test database, you should give AllMusic a try in the form filler. It tends to work a treat, as long as you use the specific release URL rather than the master release URL. You just have to watch out for release dates and cat numbers, which are both not very reliable on AllMusic. I find that it's good for cover art and track credits.

I've never had that problem, but when I use Firefox and have been on Allmusic for over 10 minutes, it freezes my desk top computer up.

It doesn't freeze up my Kindle, but then again I'm not using Firefox on Kindle.

Also, Allmusic doesn't let you right click to save images any more, but luckily you can use a snipping tool to grab the front & back of album covers.

Well now, aint that a fine "howdy doody".

Firefox has an add-on called "Absolute Enable Right-Click and Copy" that solves the right-click issue. Or, you could just disable Javascript in Firefox (which might make the site unusable).

Process for downloading images prohibited to be downloaded with Firefox standard tools:

  1. While on the page with the applicable image, select from the menu: Tools > Page Info
  2. Select the Media tab
  3. Sort the type column
  4. Scroll to the section with images in the list
  5. Select an image and flip through the list until you find the one you desire (there might be several versions of the desired image in different sizes available, so be sure to select the size you need/want)
  6. Press the 'Save as' button below the list.
  7. Done

That might work at Allmusic. However, it does not work at a site that uses Javascript to generate links to the images on the fly.

In Chrome at least, you can click and drag the image to the tab bar, which opens that image in a new tab, allowing you to save it like usual.

For AllMusic, you can drag those "protected" images to a new tab and save them from the new tab....This works in Firefox as well as Chrome.

I can't even get AllMusic to open in Chrome any more now. I have to access it via Firefox.

Same here. If you figure out the problem, let me know.

Still works fine on Chrome here (both Windows 10 and Arch Linux)

Works fine in Chrome here... except that it's so crammed with ads it looks like a Christmas tree.

You're right. It was Firefox that was causing me the problems. Chrome is working like a dream, except for all the pop-ups, as you say.

AllMusic's ads are annoying. Fortunately there are plenty of great extensions to make them disappear Tongue
