As I understand the matter, the question involves stylings such as "w/" vs "with", "featuring", "and" vs "&". There are advantages to the two basic options as I see things.
Option 1: Use the exact styling from the release. The advantage here is that rule is the same for stylings for artist names, release titles, and performance titles.
Option 2: Use a uniform styling guide. All become the same e.g. "and". The advantage here is the look on site will be consistent and visualize better in the list.
To me exact styling is far more important for artist names, release/song titles since those stylings are likely to be used for searches. This is not an issue for co-performers. Personally, I will file an error report for incorrect artist and release/performance stylings, but would never for co-performers.
Since I value consistent uniform visualization if reasonably achievable and there should be no search issues, I would vote for the uniform Option 2.
