Best Practice: Legacy New Originals

Wondering what the best practice is when there is an open legacy original/cover submission and additional covers are found. My old method was to note them in the existing post, but the current submission process opens up other options. Specifically, resubmitting the original and the other cover under the current process would list the original and/or cover under any existing artists, etc., which doesn't happen for legacys.

The example that triggered this post:

https://secondhandsongs.com/case/65177

I currently have at least two leads under review. Since these would be relatively rare covers (the original isn't on site after all), I'm inclined to accelerate my submission process for these.

Do the editors have preferences? What I don't want to see is a rejection of a legacy submission simply due to an upgraded re-submission. For instance I may find an additional cover of an original submitted by another contributor.

After a week no editors have any thoughts on the best practice in these situations?

Not really!

So you have no preference between:

a) Noting (say) five different covers of the same original in a legacy submission; and

b) Creating a new original submission with separately submitted covers that may link under artists, etc, already on site?

That is surprising....

Again, no one else has any (useful) thoughts on upgrading legacy new originals by resubmission? I'm now looking at another likely cover of "When Your Heart Is Weak". The editors have no preference between a) my just adding another cover under https://secondhandsongs.com/case/65112 or b) resubmitting the original so that the original lists under the artist and the cover doesn't get buried within an ever lengthening thread?

I would create a new submission, with the missing covers, with a link to the legacy submission. Perhaps with an explanation, so the editor properly closes the original submission, instead of rejecting it.

Thanks DK. This is my thinking too, but I needed editor approval and cooperation for this type of project.

Anyone else agree with DK?
