The movie was released in Germany on January 24, 1936.

Leo Slezak sang it in that movie:

scroll a bit on the next link:

So he would have recorded it for the movie somewhere end 1935 ??

He also recorded the song in 1937 for the Polydor-label:

Thanks Smile

The 1937 release on your link sounds exactly like the YouTube video dated 1935. So would it be that it was recorded by the end of 1935 for the movie and only released in 1937 ?

Thanks to your research I have created the Discogs reference for the 1937 release and submitted it to the SHS database Smile

Grammophon 47162 is exactly the same recording as Polydor 47162. (see attachment)

During World War I on 24 April 1917, Polyphon-Musikwerke AG acquired the German Deutsche Grammophon-Aktiengesellschaft record plant and company from the German government.

Deutsche Grammophon records in Germany were released on the Grammophon

Deutsche Grammophon records exported from Germany were released on the Polyphon Musik and Polydor labels

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polydor_Records

Both Grammophon 47162 and Polydor 47162 have the same matrix# 7428½gr9

http://www.78record.de/biograph/slezak.htm

Matrix# 7428½gr9 was recorded November 25, 1937 according to a Polydor discography I have.

But I found a recording from 1935 see attachment 2

But, CarlDennis, if I read things correctly, you shouldn't have added the Polydor and Grammophon single at all.

Joop found an earlier one on Electrola! (see his 2nd att.)
