I created a 1987 spanish language release today by the Mexican artist, Pedro Fernandez (made when he was 17-18 years old). On it he had two duets with a singer named "Karen". Here's the link to our release. I'm wanting to add Karen as a Joint Performer but I'm not sure who she is. Discogs didn't have the detail on the album and the YouTube videos had no clarification. I've searched around and no luck but I'm hoping one of our Spanish experts might be able to figure this out more readily. I'm assuming Karen is Mexican as well.

Pedro Fernández y las canciones de Juan Gabriel "Querida"

Te quiero mucho, mucho

Déjame vivir

Thx! Mark.

Spanish wiki claims it is "Karina de Venezuela" whom I presume to be this lady: Spanish wiki , discogs .

But I have many doubts and it's very difficult to confirm because:

- the Spanish wiki text has been copied to many many many sites

- I have not seen it written on any other site independently of the wiki text and especially not on any Karina sites

- The singer is credited as Karen not Karina

- Pedro Fernandez has a daughter also named Karina which makes searching very difficult (not totally sure but he may even have duetted with daughter Karina)

- Karina's album from the same year 1987 Sin máscara contains a track "Déjame vivir mi vida" which looks hopeful at first but unfortunately I think it's a different song.

So not very helpful after all that Happy

I suppose it could be a different Karina but the daughter would make her hard to find.

You did it Jon! I am pretty certain it is her. I just listened to her 1985 amor a million song compared to her vocals on the dejame vivir duet where she sang solo and they sound very similar. Plus she was a teen star like him born within a year apart and both pre-20 on the album and it would make more sense to pair similar aged partners on this. And I read she was launched in Mexico too so that makes it easier to pair them together. The only thing that gives me any pause is why she's not listed as Karina instead of Karen. She was already using the name Karina by then but I am going to go with her and create her artist page and such. The label went to great pains to list out all the credits too so it seems odd to have a typo but I'm going to go with her. If someone comes along and knows better then I'll happily revise it again.

Thank you very much for your help.

One more dumb question. I"ve noticed many of the Spanish Artists have 4 names..for instance Karina...

Cynthia Karina Moreno Elías

So should I always assume the last 2 go into the Last Name field as we don't have a 4 box set up on SHS?

Wow! That was lucky! Happy

I don't know how to enter the full name, maybe try to find another Spanish lang artist in SHS and copy.
