This song was written by Argentinian Sergio Mihanovich and became a jazz standard when Bill Evans covered it.

The problem is it probably was called a Spanish name originally when Mihanovich performed it (thats if he recorded it first), but I can't find info on that nor the year it was performed/recorded first.

Any help?

According to the Spanish Wikipedia Mihanovich wrote the song when he was in New York in 1963. A good chance that he chose an English title for the composition, but there is no definite proof.
