Original version of "Cuban Pete"

Trying to find out who did the original version of Cuban Pete. It originated in the UK around 1936, though younger people will know it from the 1994 movie The Mask (haven't gotten around to that one yet as I need time to go through all four versions by Jim Carrey to figure out which versions can be used here)

They are saying the Mantovani performance you already added is the "first release". i just found one that is rather good by Joe Loss in 1936 that I will work on adding.

I added the Joe Loss version recorded in June 1936...so Mantovani's must have been prior obviously. I added the "with Vocal Chorus" to the end of the Mantovani release as it was on the label and frankly it's needed as I just assumed his would be an instrumental (which both sides aren't). It blows that's it always tough to get recording dates on UK sides.

I found somwhere that had the recording info. on Mantovani's and added it and set it as first performance and release. Would like to pin down a release date.

Go look at Jose Norman's bio now. Very comical. He is as Latin as I am.

We should find the English Columbia release for Montavani that would have been FB something. That DO catalog is Australia and obviously it wasn't release there first.

RateYourMusic has the correct release and it even has the recording date I found.

I corrected it....I made a front image that looks respectable.

I found some more images on Ebay and made better pics using pixel editor
