My current Submissions statistics read:

795 (243 added, 535 pending, 17 rejected) 3.8

I wonder what specifically the 'rejected' category is used for. I am asking as I somehow feel it is regarded as something negative whereas this is not necessarily true. I reject some of my submissions myself, either because the database is sometimes not really supportive in identifying if a certain work or cover is indeed already existing (you can look in several categories and still overlook a contribution that is not verfied yet) or because I made an honest error and just recognize it myself (then I cannot correct it and reject it to enter it once more corrected) or I hit reject inadvertently (just happened Grin ) .

So..is that rejected number somehow influencing my 'score'??

I have no relation to the artist Sara K. Just a coincidence. Due to private circumstances not able to participate anymore.

I can't say how rejections are used, but I would hope it's forms some ratio with total submissions and with approved submissions. Frankly, I see properly rejected submissions falling into four categories:

a) Technically an error but completely excusable: A classic example is a submission of a duplicate recording under a different artist name/alias and release that wasn't discoverable as a duplicate by info already on site. Ultimately these are treated as error reports (especially when the submission was released earlier), but rejected as a submission;

b) Understandable mistakes but sill a reject: Examples would be duplicates not easily found via the search function and/or an existing submission buried in a long list of covers;

c) Simple oversights: Being human and occasionally forgetting to look for existing entries and submissions prior to submission. Mistakes are just going to happen and the system doesn't always catch them on the front end; and

d) Laziness: When one just can't be bothered to check existing entries, etc.

I reject some of my submissions myself,

We have a "withdraw"-option in the pipeline, which you will be able to use instead.

or because I made an honest error and just recognize it myself (then I cannot correct it and reject it to enter it once more corrected) or I hit reject inadvertently (just happened Grin ) .

And we also plan to make submission editable. Bare with us Smile

Rejections should influence your score, but I don't think it currently does.

Am I right, Mathieu ?
