This was issued as a single on Epic in 1966 and then on McKenzie's debut LP in 1967 (on Ode). Both were produced or co-produced by John Phillips - but is the LP version the same as the single, or a re-recording?

Yes, the album version was issued as a mono single (in Germany and the Netherlands - c/w Celeste, also on the album). The question is, is the album version the same as the version issued as a single on Epic in 1966 - or was it re-recorded for the album?

I see what you mean.

The strings were arranged by Marty Paich on the Epic single.

That could be the key to find out.

Marty Paich died in 1995, but maybe his son knows the answer ?
