Trying to track down the original version of "Lillian" by Danish composer/pianist Bent Fabric. The earliest recording I could find was an instrumental version on the 1967 album Bent Fabric Plays Gay and Sentimental Songs. However, it also appears on a compilation of TV and film songs written by Fabric, so I'm wondering if there's an earlier version somewhere.

Doing some more research, it turns out the song is from a Danish movie titled I den gønne skov ("In the Green Forest"). I'm assuming the 1968 performance by Daimi was also used in this film but I haven't found any soundtrack info yet

Michael,

Seems to me ELLEN WINTHER LEMBOURN, who also played the role of Lillian, sang it in the movie.

The director Palle Kjærulff-Schmidt remembers her when he has to fill the role of Lillian in his Dyrehavsbakke vaudeville "In the green forest" (1968). She was not his first choice, but still adorns hard as a down-to-earth hill singer. And she has the film's most successful song number: the little melancholy show, given as an inner monologue, about Lillian, whose name kind of rhymes with a man.
